Tomas Anthony

Tomas manages the new location 130 clinton street as well as Sales, Marketing and Strategic Planning for both companies.   A graduate of English from Oberlin College, former teacher then software executive, Tomas founded the original everyday athlete ® in Carroll Gardens 13+ years ago. While working with software companies in the 1990‘s, Tomas discovered and developed his passion for entrepreneurship.  The Everyday Athlete embodies the fusion of ideas and passion that Tomas learned during this time and as teacher. .  Tomas is a lifelong resident of Brooklyn and has lived and traveled in Central and South America. He is fluent in Spanish

Alejandra Belmar

Founder / Pre/Postnatal Expert

Alejandra manages the 136 Union Street location and oversees operations including customer relations, staffing, and day to day studio operations for both studios.  A graduate of Hotel Administration from the Escuela National Hotelera INACAP, Santiago, Chile, Alejandra was working as a web designer when she discovered the benefits of personal training and yoga. Growing up she struggled with her body weight into her twenties but then she discovered new physical abilities and inner strengths that previously had gone unrecognized.  Over the past 8 year’s, Alejandra’s has developed an impressive amount of experience building strength and conditioning programs for Pre/Postnatal clients including multiple pregnancies (her record is currently = 4 individual births with a single client!).  She leads and teaches Elements of Fitness (everyday athlete's signature program for new clients), as well as Boot Camp classes.  After the birth of her daughter Ella, Alejandra developed a series of specific training techniques designed for new mothers and mothers-to-be. These techniques focus on the physical issues that arise from weight gain, muscular imbalances and new energy demands, and prepare moms for the physical challenges of motherhood. Alejandra strives to empower all her clients but specifically new mothers to find strength and comfort in their pre/postnatal bodies.

Sal Dorsey

Director of Group Fitness, Trainer

Sal Dorsey, is a certified health and fitness professional and group exercise instructor for 11 years, Sal Dorsey has been a competitive athlete since the age of five starting his Martial Art training in Goju karate which was the foundation for his discipline and tireless work ethic. As a teen he loved Football, Track n Field and power lifting at Kennedy High in Riverdale, Bronx. During those years he trained  under a national ranked physical conditioning regime created by the athletic staff from the University Wisconsin (badgers); achieving 1st place Power Squats (as a teenager in the adult light weight division RED RAGE powerlifting contest) and MVP honors for the 1994  (PSAL) high school Football championship. While pursuing his education in Fine Arts at Long Island University, he played college Football.  Sal is now committed to Mix Martial Arts, Kickboxing, Boxing and is a Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate.

“Coach” Mason

Tumbling, Gymnastic, Acro-tumbling Lead Instructor, Hip Hop

Mason has been dancing since the age of ten and teaching since the age of fifteen. He has worked as a dancer and choreographer for television shows, commercials, Barbadian recording artists, the hotel circuit and on every major stage on his native island of Barbados. After relocating to New York in 1999, Mason continued to study the basics of hip-hop, jazz and basic ballet at the Broadway Dance Center (BDC). As a member and assistant teacher with Beverly Brown's dance company, P-Funk, performances included: model/dancer for Everlast Sportswear at Sports Authority NY, P-Funk dance company's "The Family Feud" 2000, Booty dancer (CBS Early Show), Piton Beer TV commercial for St. Lucia, and choreographer's performance outlet 2002 at BDC. Mason is an accomplished, certified gymnastics instructor, acrobatic tumbler and was the director of Bija's acro-tumbling classes.

Richard Laub

Massage Therapist: Expert in Cranial-Sacral Therapy, Deep Tissue Release.

Richard Laub is a New York State licensed, nationally certified massage therapist trained at the Swedish institute in Manhattan. He combines an intuitive approach with a deep-tissue technique to provide specific, therapeutic work. A Reiki and Shiatsu practitioner, he also holds the Sloan-Kettering certification for oncology massage.  Richard Laub has been voted "The Best of The Best" massage therapists in New York City by Allure Magazine 3 years in a row.  His practice is comprehensive, healing and is integrated into the everyday athlete®'s training programs to help clients feel better, move better and achieve their goals of great health.

Clare Seidel

Trainer, Pre/Postnatal Specialist, Nutritional Counseling, Yoga Teacher

Clare Seidel is a mother of two, a certified prenatal yoga instructor.  She is both a personal trainer and  a yoga teacher.  When she is not running around after her beautiful son, Gus, you can find her knitting hats of wool for the impending cross-country ski season.

Lauren Cox

Studio Manager (Union Street)

Lauren was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.  After studying Sociology at San Francisco State University and working for Stanford University's Diabetes Prevention Dance Program for young girls, she implemented award winning programs for Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco as Health, Fitness & Life Skills Coordinator.  She moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2008 for a change of pace, to learn Portuguese and teach one-on-one English to business professionals.

Lauren Cox is also a lifetime professional dancer/mover by way of Clear Talent Group and independent projects specializing in rhythmic gymnastics, jazz/contemporary, modern, hip-hop/street jazz, ballet, samba/afro-brazilian, afro-haitian, freestyle & yoga/meditation.  She is in constant movement to bring balance to mind, body & soul.

Tanisha Smith

Cheer and Tumbling Instructor

Tanisha Smith is from Long Island, and has coached competitive youth cheerleading and All Star cheer for 9 years all over Long Island.  She has also taught tumbling at New Image Gymnastics.  Growing up, she tried every sport, including basketball, tennis, and, of course, cheerleading. Tanisha can be found running after her 2-year-old twins, and her motto is “never say you can’t until you try”.

Julian Black

Director of Climbing Programs

An avid climber for most of his life, Julian took his first job working in a climbing gym at age 15 as an instructor and personal trainer. Since then, he has continued to work professionally with climbers as a consultant, trainer, and coach. Julian's philosophy on climbing and training is that training should be fun and rewarding, and should yield strong and obvious results.

"For me, it comes down to confidence. Whether success means going out and placing top 5 in nationals, or just feeling really natural and graceful on the easy boulder problems at the local crag is up to the individual. Good training in the gym should give you the confidence to put your hands on the starting holds and know, hey, I can do this!"

Victor Reyes

Trainer

Victor graduated from the University Buffalo with a degree in Electrical Engineering, but he decided to pursue a career in something he loves to do everyday.  For over 8 years Victor has been training and teaching squash.  He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and holds a specialty certification in corrective exercise, pre/post natal, kettlebells, olympic lifting, and dynamic variable resistance training.
