elements of fitness™

Elements of Fitness is our introductory program for clients unfamiliar with functional training. The exercises advance through basic progressions in a circuit-training format - proven to offer a "one-stop-shop" for improving your total body fitness. Most movements involve no heavy weights and are designed to work your body as a whole instead of muscle isolation. This functional total body training increases strength, functional flexibility, endurance and rate of recovery.

One on One Training at everyday athlete ®

Unlike an ordinary gym, everyday athlete is dedicated to wellness, to physical well-being, to helping you reach your physical potential.

We are born athletes.  All of us.  We can run, jump, throw, catch, move, react.  Our job is to reawaken that “everyday” athlete, that person who, through the course of a day, feels fit, strong, energized, limber.

Most gyms are built around an assembly line method.  We humbly believe that this is a mistake.  How can one size possibly fits all?  We inhabit such vastly different bodies, different histories, different injuries, different needs, different goals.  A 35-year-old mom who is recovering from childbirth is different from a 25-year-old top-tier tennis player, who is quite different from a 50-year-old man whose idea of exercise is a brisk walk.

So we do something others don’t.  We build a personal exercise platform that comes from the basic elements of fitness combined with people's genetics, history and experience.  Everyday athlete® fuses the best practices in human movement sciences and we develop programs for assessment and that are in a spiral, so you can consistently and constantly re-assessing yourself, pushing yourself, progressing.

But perhaps the greatest difference between us and most gyms is our attitude, our philosophy.  We believe deeply in the notion of play.  We are happiest at play.  Yes, your body is working.  But we believe, done right, that it shouldn’t feel like work.  Mindful, playful, done with joy.  Every animal in the animal kingdom plays.  Except us after a certain age.  We believe it’s time to transform the concept of working out to the joy of movement and passion for life.

This isn’t just about exercising.  This is something more fundamental.  It’s about helping you find balance in life.  Our lives are built around basic elements of movement.  How is a squat different from bending down to pick up a squirmy, 32-pound three year old?  And how we feel during those movements makes a dramatic difference in out day-to-day well being.

So. How do you feel right now, this minute?
