As part of our mission to help you improve your health and well-being, everyday athlete has gathered a team of specially trained and licensed massage therapists, bodyworkers and acupuncturists. Each therapist has been chosen for his or her specific understanding of the body and its healing processes. All of our massage therapists have been trained in Swedish massage as well as specialized methods that can be blended with traditional Swedish techniques, or offered as separate treatments. Each treatment is its own unique experience.

Services Offered:
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the release of chronic tension patterns from the body’s deeper tissue layers. Through slow, deep strokes, finger pressure in contracted muscles, and manipulation of muscle fiber adhesions and tight connective tissue, the therapist aims to release long held patterns of tension.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy—Sore areas, usually referred to as “knots,” are most likely trigger points, which are XXX [some kind of definition would be helpful]. Active trigger points are tender and often refer pain to other parts of the body when pressure is applied. The purpose of trigger point therapy is to eliminate pain and to re-educate the muscles into pain-free habits.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
CranioSacral Therapy (CST)—Developed by Dr. John Upledger, CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the nervous system, thus aiding the body’s own natural healing response to the negative effects of stress and trauma. The intention of CST is to facilitate the release of contracted muscles and chronically held tension patterns within muscle tissue.
Infant CranioSacral Therapy
Infant CranioSacral Therapy—While maintaining the same focus as adult CST of optimizing the function of the nervous system, assessment and treatment with infants addresses feeding and early developmental issues. [A little vague. Would it be helpful to say more explicitly what development issues benefit from treatment? Or what problems with feeding?]
Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones in combination with traditional Swedish massage strokes. It is a deeply soothing technique. The heat helps release tight muscles while the placement of stones along the spine and other major joints aids the flow of energy in the body. Warming the body to the core, it is the perfect cold weather treat!
Muscle Release
Muscle Release is The Everyday Athlete’s signature approach to bodywork, targeting the thicker muscle groups of the body: glutes, hamstrings, quadriceps and hip flexors. The technique is a combination of stretching and shiatsu techniques to increase mobility in the lower part of the body.
